Here at Porgstar! we have a culture of giving back to our community. This ideal was instilled in each of us as tiny porglets and has continued as we now explore our wonderful galaxy.
To help with our goal of giving back, a portion of every purchase will be donated to an Earth-based charity determined by the type of product purchased.
T-Shirts
$1.00 from every t-shirt sold will be donated to Star Wars: Force for Change.
Star Wars: Force for Change aims to create transformation and change in the lives of kids by helping to bridge the STEM skills gap, utilizing the fun and intrigue of Star Wars storytelling to inspire innovation, help build confidence and ignite curiosity. In doing so, Star Wars: Force for Change hopes to embolden and motivate the next generation of heroes and innovators, while also empowering the Star Wars fan community to use their fandom for good.
There will also be special versions of some shirts to support other worthy causes. This will be in addition to the $1.00 that goes to Star Wars: Force for Change and will be noted on the product pages.
Comic Books
Comic books are a particular passion of ours (not only are they fun to read, but they can make great nesting material) so we are pleased to give 10% from each comic book sold to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of the First Amendment rights of the comics art form and its community of retailers, creators, publishers, librarians, and readers. The CBLDF provides legal referrals, representation, advice, assistance, and education in furtherance of these goals.
Even if you choose not to purchase anything from Porgstar, please consider donating to either of these wonderful groups.
Cheers!

A message from the owner of Porgstar!:
All joking and lightheartedness aside…
Star Wars and comic books have been a very important part of my life for pretty much as long as I can remember.
I was almost 5 when Star Wars debuted in theaters in 1977. I’ve been an active citizen in that amazing universe created by George Lucas ever since. Watching the movies and TV shows (BTW, I love ALL of the movies.). Reading the books and the comics. Collecting the toys and LEGO sets. Listening to the music. (Oh man, the music. John Williams is truly the Maestro.) I am not the biggest Star Wars geek out there but there are few segments of my life that don’t include some bit of Star Wars. Even my band-aids are Star Wars themed.
The first comic book I remember owning was issue #4 of the 1979 Marvel Comics adaptation of the original Battlestar Galactica TV series. I had it in my grubby little hands sometime in early 1980 when I lived in Alaska and newsstand dates were irrelevant. I feel fortunate that I still have that book, even in its very worn condition. Fast forward to 1985 when I discovered my first comic book shop. Mind blown. The art, the stories, the world building. With the exception of a couple of forced hiatuses in the 2000s, I’ve been visiting whatever my local comic book shop is almost every week since 1985. There are creators, titles, and characters I’ve been following since those early days in 1985 because I fell in love with the worlds they built and lived in. Like Star Wars, comic books are ingrained in my every day life.
Porgstar! is my opportunity to bring together my love of both Star Wars and comic books and create something that is built around giving back to both of those loves. That is why I’m giving a portion of the revenue for every item sold through Porgstar to groups such as Star Wars: Force for Change and the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. Some might say why not give more? This endeavor is my labor of love and I would if the math allowed, but it doesn’t. Products, production, web hosting, design, marketing, transaction fees, taxes, and my time all have costs. If I am unable to cover those costs first then ultimately there is no giving back. If I find ways that make sense for me to give more, believe me I will.
I sincerely thank you for visiting Porgstar! and taking a look around. If you found something you like, that’s just an added bonus as it’s win-win-win.
Cheers!
Jim
